"Only when our intent comes from a place of love, rather than a place of fear do we create peace in the world and in ourselves."

-don Miguel Ruiz Jr.

For a number of years I worked solely as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, helping people with specific issues such as anxiety, depression, habits and beliefs and thought patterns that held them back. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an amazingly effective, evidence-based therapy. Studies have shown that in an average of six sessions, 71% reported themselves recovered, compared to 42% of people using other IAPT therapies (such as CBT). This means that very quickly you can become free of whatever difficult pattern you've been experiencing. I still use this wonderful modality as I've not found anything more powerful and effective for helping my clients clear the path for so much more possibility in their lives. But then what next? How do you then integrate that change into your life in a way that means you don't fill that newly created gap with another problem pattern instead, or wander aimlessly still, never quite connecting to your true potential and life-force. The bigger questions is how do you move from a place of freedom and optimize possibility? How do you then live your inspired life?

Just as I did then, I still hold one-to-one sessions but for the past 7 years, in order to support my clients more deeply I began to integrate a number of other approaches and philosophies into how I worked and what I began to see in in people who worked with me was truly awe inspiring. I also went on a huge personal and professional journey of exploration into some of the worlds greatest wisdom teachings, worked with some of the leading practitioners in embodiment, yoga and feminine practice and gave two years of sabbatical to exploring the connection between nature, purpose, emotional health and spirituality. What continued to emerge was an even more effective approach and one that I am always so happy to share and teach as it brings so much joy to those I work with, and in turn to myself.

Emotional, physical, energetic and spiritual

You will often find approaches that focus on the mind or the body, but rarely both and rarely also taking into account a person's energetic and spiritual health. We are not a collection of islands, indistinct from each other, but instead an ecosystem that is interconnected and all needs to be treated as such. If one of those areas is left out in the cold it can create problems down the line, so it is important to know that you are being seen for your 'whole' being. It is important to bring all of yourself into play. In the work we do I take into account the mind, your relationship to your thinking and your unconscious patterning (often working with the Cognitive Hypnotherapy approach), also how you are breathing, your embodied states and how you are moving (either in support of who you are or undermining it - often subtle changes can make a huge difference), and to soul connection including your connection to your innate wisdom, and how you can access more of it as your guide. It's a powerfully transformational and freeing approach.

I am particularly interested in indigenous teachings around the concept of Intent, where we learn how to bring deep and wise connection to how we move and act, and how our connection with the land can inform our personal wisdom and personal choices. Both of these are being largely lost as concepts in our world, a problem that is having a direct negative impact on the state of our planet and individual happiness.

I am always happy to have a conversation around my philosophy, the tools that I use and how you can be helped in whatever you are experiencing. There is so much that can be done and usually in such a shorter time than you might expect.

Additionally, over time, my husband Jon Macdonald and I, have developed an approach called the 3 Choices, which when gently worked into can be applied to any situation at any time. It is a remarkable healing and powerful approach that brings you into connection with all that you need for your life, your health and whatever it is you are passionate about creating (or will be once you connect to this!). This integrative approach brings together my work over many years and soon can be dived into more deeply at www.AlwaysChoose.com (please note this website is very much in development but you can sign up to the mailing list ot be kept up-to-date with the teachings as they come online.)
