(How to Let Go Of Limiting Beliefs And Start to Live With Far Greater Possibility)

So the alarm goes off, signalling another day, and for a few sleepy moments of transition time, before the consciousness that comes with daytime sets in, you have not yet solidified your identity - you have not yet begun to think the thoughts that make you, 'you'.
And then, as if by magic, the thinking mind and the body start to move together, and often before you've even arisen from under your duvet, your personality comes flooding in. In these first few conscious moments, who you believe yourself to be will marry with the movements, behaviours and habits that make up ‘you’, and most probably you will get out of bed and carry on with your day as an extension of yesterday.
You, like everyone else, are who you believe yourself to be, and you carry out your life accordingly.
But what if I told you that we all have so much more of a say in who that is and what that means, than we tend to comprehend?
Think about it for a second. If that moment of pause when you wake were to extend for a bit and you had no thoughts or beliefs come in at all, how would you move in the world? What would you do? How would you relate to yourself or to others? What would it all mean?
What would you make it mean?
Something that feels good, or something that is constricting in some way?
What would you actually care about?
What would you choose to do?
And, then there’s the magic question: And what else?
We are a collection of thoughts that make sense of all that we are and all that we know, and our beliefs are a huge part of that system.
And the older you are, the more you are confirming to yourself each day the ‘truths’ of what you believe. And the more you will likely be believing the ‘truths’ of your friends, influential people in your life and the society in which you live.
And often the limiting beliefs become more ingrained than the freeing ones, but still you will believe them - even if they limit you. Even if they hurt you and others.
That isn’t to say you shouldn’t have thoughts and opinions, just that it makes sense to choose them wisely rather than blindly. And of course, none of this makes you wrong, it makes you human, just like us all.
But how would it be to hold your beliefs more lightly and give them a little wiggle room to open into more of what’s out there past your current frame of reference?
Freeing? Liberating? Exciting even?
How would it be to create beliefs and thought systems that really support a positive and expansive experience? One that opens and uplifts, and creates more possibility for healthy success?
If you’ve worked directly with me already, you may have heard me say that we’re making it all up, so why not make up a good one? This is applicable to how we relate, how we construct our businesses and work life, how we approach our health, our fitness - everything.
There is everything you currently believe to be possible, and then there is everything else.
How To Create Change
If you’re interested in this exploration, it can be helpful to ask yourself these questions:
What three thoughts and beliefs could I change my relationship to that would begin to open out my life in a different way?
What could happen if I let go of these beliefs?
What wouldn’t happen if I kept hold of each one?
They say that once we see an insight, we can't unsee it. This powerful exploration can affect small and large things - the possibility of your career working in a new way, your relationship to money, engaging in something that you didn’t imagine to be possible, how you parent, how you love, how you receive love, asking for what you need, doing something that you thought you were afraid of, or that you thought was out of your realm of possibility…
Transformational Starts Here
Setting intention and creating awareness of the patterns is the first step in making these changes, but often the beliefs that limit us most are the ones we can’t see clearly on our own. There is much we can do by ourselves, but so much more when we’re supported. The tools and techniques I work with get right to the heart of transformational change, working on many levels and, importantly, helping you to let go of underlying patterns that can keep these belief structures so fixed. It's so much more straightforward than you might imagine.
If something in this is calling to you in some way, that's worth paying attention to. Maybe you already know what you want to experience or achieve differently, or perhaps you'd like to explore this further.
